Ages 16 and older can join us for a guided outdoor experience on Muscoot’s scenic hiking trails. Led by our knowledgeable staff, the walks will connect you with nature, build confidence on the trails and deepen your appreciation for the beauty of the woods. Sunrise Hike to Overlook, 5:45 a.m. - 6:45 a.m.
Ages 18 and older can see the beautiful views as the sun rises over the farm and surrounding land. It’s a peaceful, easygoing and fresh start to your day! Walks leave promptly to ensure we catch the sunrise. Each walk is weather-dependent; an email will go out the day before if it’s being canceled. Free. Pond Patrol: Exploring Water Quality Indicators, 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.
In this free, hands-on program, ages 10 and up can venture to our ice pond to search for macroinvertebrates—small aquatic beings that tell us a lot about the health of our water and ecosystem. You’ll discover how the presence or absence of these critters can help us assess water quality and environmental well-being.

Join us to learn about bird identification and migration. We’ll start at the feeders and then stroll around the preserve to observe all of its birds.

Naturalist Taro Ietaka will lead this mushroom-basics walk-and-talk for those new to mycology or anyone who needs a refresher. Reminder: Collecting at County Parks is prohibited, but you can still get some great photos and tips. Meet at the carriage house parking area on the south side of 455 Byram Lake Road. The program will run in light rain, but worse weather will cancel the event.
