Feb. 18, 2021 – With spring just a month away, Hilltop Hanover Farm and Environmental Center is preparing to replenish gardens across the County with vegetables, herbs, flowers and native plants. Their annual plant sale is open for pre-season ordering now through March 19.
County Executive George Latimer said: “Hilltop Hanover Farm continues to showcase its value with the launch of its online plant sale. Last year the farm addressed food insecurity brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, and it’s now addressing the increased demand for seedlings in our community.”
Over 100 varieties of plants are available for purchase and are grown using organic practices at Hilltop Hanover Farm.
Hilltop Hanover Farm and Environmental Center Director Shanyn Siegel said: “Local farms are essential to a sustainable food system. We’ve witnessed a resurgence of home gardens and are proud to support sustainability efforts across the County with events like our plant sale.”
Friends of Hilltop Hanover Farm and Environmental Center President Janet Harckham: “Our plant sale will support thousands of gardeners in our local community. If they overproduce, we hope they join us in donating their extra vegetables to food pantries throughout the County.”
