March 21, 2022 – The Hundred Acre Wood Exhibit “Forest Friends” comes to Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial this spring. The new exhibit is scheduled to open Saturday, April 9, and runs select days and times through Sunday, May 29.
Located inside the Conservatory, this presentation walks viewers through a “storybook” fantasy featuring the original characters of A.A. Milne and inspired art of E.H. Shepard. Winnie the Pooh and friends come to life with enchanting visuals that teaches children about the importance of our forests and the inhabitants that live there.
The display features five giant books, over six-feet tall that will present a poetic, animated lesson centered around a character from the classic works. In addition, interactive signage will coordinate with each lesson allowing children and adults a hands-on sensory experience.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer says, “This innovative exhibit is a fresh way to teach the children of Westchester more about the organic properties all around them in a fun and relatable way while providing a beautiful, interactive and engaging learning space.”
Throughout the Conservatory, seasonal flowers, tropical plants, trees and shrubs will accent the exhibit with an explosion of color, texture and fragrance.
Westchester County Parks Commissioner Kathy O’Connor says, “We are proud to provide the youth of Westchester with an exciting, educational experience such as this, which sparks interest in learning about situations in their own backyard.”
Tickets go on sale Monday, March 21, online with scheduled viewing times and pricing ranging from $10 to $20.
The exhibit is co-produced by The Friends of Lasdon Park & Arboretum and Westchester County Parks.
