Jan. 15, 2025 — Discover the sweet side of nature when maple sugaring returns to three properties owned and operated by the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation this winter.
The family-friendly events are being held from January through March. The offerings—at Lenoir Preserve, Alfred B. DelBello Muscoot Farm and Trailside Nature Museum at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation—will include informational sessions, tastings and hands-on tree tapping.
Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said, “The process of maple sugaring is an amazing blend of nature, tradition and craftsmanship. The staff who run the programs are experts in their field and eager to share their vast knowledge.”
Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation Commissioner Kathy O’Connor said: “Watching sap transform into golden syrup evokes wonder in children and adults alike. It’s a sweet reminder of patience, sustainability and the fun of turning nature’s bounty into a timeless treat.”
